It all started with a dream shared over coffee between college friends and business partners in Hamilton, ON. Genuinely passionate about food, sustainability, and community, they wanted to create a bakery with a dynamic atmosphere that fosters creativity and equality. In the early years, Josie focused on pastry and wholesome bread products, while Nickey created and artistically hand-crafted custom cakes and sweets. Both have now stepped back to focus on the business rather than getting messy but they are elbow to elbow with the talented C&L team during the Holidays. Today and for the past 10 years, a living-wage employer, Cake & Loaf is beloved for its stand-out baked goods and positive message.
